Since it's a holiday today in the United States and Canada, I thought I'd take a day off from deep thoughts and offer a piece of weird old art from my collection. The above image comes from a nineteenth century book on natural history, Land and Sea by J. W. Buel (1887), and is meant to depict early land-dwelling creatures. But these might just as well pass for Lovecraft's Deep Ones in their essentials!
