My Copies of "Jimmy" Arrived

It's finally here! After four years of research, writing, revising, and editing, this week I received two boxes of Jimmy: The Secret Life of James Dean from my publisher. The book looks beautiful, and I am excited for all of you to be able to buy copies on November 19!

The inspiration for the Jimmy dust jacket was an homage to, but not an exact copy of, William Bast's original 1956 James Dean biography. My first edition is a bit faded, but it was originally the same shade of red. Bast's cover showed Dean draped in shadow, mine bathed in light, symbolizing the difference between his biography, which hid the truth and mine, which exposes it.

To be honest, I can't afford to buy a copy. But I'm going to get one through my public library, and after posting this comment I'm going to their website to ask them to get it for the benefit the local citizenry. Congrats, Jason! It's a good-lookin' book too. I'm pretty ignorant of film/celebrity history, but having followed your blogging for a while you've got me completely interested in this!

A few weeks ago I requested it be purchased by my local library system and learned on Monday that they have approved it for purchase.

Hey, you got a writeup in the Daily Mail! which also merited a link from the Drudge Report. Not that everyone likes either source but, still - publicity.
Those publishers who turned your book down must be feeling mighty silly about now.
