UFO podcaster and local TV reporter George Knapp offered stories about Robert Bigelow supposedly being told that Lockheed Martin had an alloy from a crashed object that had been forged in space, and he offered stories about Soviet UFO research that had been broadcast in a cable TV documentary decades ago. Knapp, however, had difficulty answer Rep. Nick Begich’s (R-Alaska) question about the “long game” for ufology since everyone has access to smartphones and can view UFO videos. Knapp concedes that “the secret is out” but could not make much of a case for why government endorsement of ufology claims is therefore essential.
The only real evidence offered during the hearing were some blurry videos of blobs alleged to be unknown aerial phenomena. One video, entered by Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Missouri.), shows a Hellfire missile fired at a so-called “orb” (possibly a drone or helicopter) off Yemen and failing to explode. Rather than concluding the missile was a dud, the witnesses imply that the UFO was made of a material that deflected the missile and the missile “split in half” (the video shows no such thing). The House members did not subpoena the crew involved to testify nor did they appear to have conducted any research, presumably because they know it is not a tiny alien craft. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) spouted UFO conspiracies from the internet, such as the false claim that so-called UFO whistleblower David Grusch’s medical records were “leaked” to discredit him. In short, the hearing was a pale echo of previous hearings, with more of the same stories unsupported by evidence and appeals to ignorance, with more of the same complaints about stigma and suppression. With nothing really new to offer, the hearing was something of a dud.

Is the driver behind these Congressional testimonies the draw of Warhol’s “world famous for 15 minutes” or is it fever dreams of deserved wealth for revealing “the Truth”? Only the Shadow knows.

“On 29 July 1968, the US House of Representatives Committee on Science and Astronautics, held a symposium on UFOs. It was instigated by Congressman and NICAP member J. Edward Roush, and he introduced the session by saying this was to be an assessment of the UFO problem by six experts, to enable better judgements about future avenues of research. […] The six experts were Dr J. Allen Hynek, Dr James E. McDonald, Carl Sagan, Robert L. Hall, Dr James A. Harder and Robert M. L. Baker Jr. All of them were generally in favour of conducting further UFO research. And note, there is not a sceptic in the house”.

The Houthies have been very proficient in the last decade with cheap drones. Might be a ballon with a sensor array hanging underneath. And hellfires are air to ground missiles. How fast was it going? I heard low speed. Traveling in the wind? Ive casually follwed the resurgence of UFOs ( grew up in the late 70s/early 80s and read it all as a kid) beyond the Nimitz incident which is weird havent seen any serious evidence. Have watched AA in years but i caught the Volcano episode. Really no more material left to cover it seems. Georgio a fellow IC grad like Jason and my son looks worse for wear as well.

Wow, someone's got issues. Too late now but some football early in life would have trained the sissy out of him. Failing that we'd free up some budget even after funeral expenses.

Still using somebody else's name, I see. I thought that sort of thing got people blocked around here.

Sorry to return so late or so early. Are we still circling back to Bob? Found this tale on Douglas Dean Johnson's website.

Hello again. Sorry if now is too late to return here. Are we still circling back to Bob? Asking again because I want to share URLs, something that apparently irritates you, Kent. Sorry. Here is a synopsis of Bob's story written by his friend Gene Huff.

Hello again tonight. Apologies in advance for leaving more comments nearly one month after this post was posted, but on Sunday morning I found a link to a page on Reddit containing a six minute video clip from Weaponized featuring three men who were at the hearing nearly one month ago.
