The Travel Channel launched Expedition Unknown to great fanfare, developing it as a flagship show to bring ancient history, mythology, and mystery to the cable channel in a bid to compete with rival History Channel and its slate of pseudohistorical programming. While Expedition Unknown and its star, Josh Gates, were more credible and less sensational than the competition, the program was not without its share of problematic episodes. The program's mandate exceeded my personal interest in ancient history, often straying into Wild West and modern history, so my reviews of the series have been spotty, but are collected here for convenience.
