Today, I'd like to share two exciting new projects with you and ask for your assistance. First up: I've just released my first ever YouTube video! Based on my article "The Case of the False Quotations," the video "Nuclear Fallout in the Mahabharata?" combines words, images, and graphics to bring the story of David Childress's fabricated quotation to a broad, new audience. If it goes over well, it will be the first video in an Ancient Alien Fraud series. If you like it, let me know and I'll make more. Check it out below: What a pain in the neck it was making this. I have a degree in broadcast journalism, so cutting a package wasn't the hard part. That came together rather easily, even if it was a bit challenging trying to do it with only the free tools available on my PC. (Sometimes I with I could afford a Mac...) The real challenge seemed to be YouTube itself. My video played perfectly on my PC, in any media player, with transitions, synced sound and visuals, and special effects. Uploaded to YouTube, however, the sound track became offset by three seconds, and YouTube stripped out all the transitions and dropped random shots from the video. Despite following all of their formatting standards, it took me ten tries before I made a version that would play correctly on YouTube (even if the audio is still about half a second out of sync, not enough to be too noticeable).
Finally, my appeal for your assistance. As you know, my website doesn't have advertising, and I don't take money to promote products or services on my blog or my Twitter feed. However, maintaining this website take a great deal of time and effort. This isn't my regular job. (Honestly, book writing doesn't pay a living wage for 95% of authors.) So, I'm asking all of my readers to consider buying a book. It doesn't have to be the Ancient Aliens book above. Any of my titles will do, and if you don't like anything I've written, you can also choose from my JasonColavito.com Books reprint collection. All the profits go into helping me afford the time and resources to make this site possible.
Hey, I could just straight up ask for cash like those sites with the annoying PayPal "donate" buttons pasted everywhere. At least this way you get something out of it, too.
