In a lengthy recent interview, former America Unearthed host Scott Wolter said he is releasing a censored copy of his new book with blacked-out maps and missing evidence until The Curse of Oak Island television series either pays him for the “millions of dollars in content” he says his book is worth, or the show is cancelled. Wolter said he tried contacting the History Channel’s top-rated series ahead of the mid-April publication of Oak Island, Knights Templar, and the Holy Grail: Secrets of "the Underground Project" Revealed in the hope of appearing on the show. He said that from a “financial perspective” using the show to promote his book would benefit him; however, Curse producers were not interested. As a result, Wolter decided to black out images of “evidence” in his book, including maps, and censor some of the content because he fears Curse will use his work without paying him for it. The statements begin around the 1:40:00 mark in the video below. Wolter said that he will release his uncensored book and the “proof” of where the Oak Island treasure went until the show pays him what he claims his work is worth—apparently the millions of dollars he thinks his ideas are worth and not the $23 list price he charges for his book—or the History Channel ends the series. A cynic might suspect that finding the Oak Island treasure or announcing an indisputable solution to the “mystery” might be worth more than an appearance on Curse, but it’s worth noting how Wolter’s claims have taken on financial urgency as his star has fallen.
Wolter also announced (1:42:00) that he is ultimately pursuing the ancient wisdom of Atlantis. He follows Graham Hancock in embracing Ignatius Donnelly’s idea of Atlantis as a global high civilization, and he alleges that the Atlanteans built the pyramids during the Ice Age as a repository of wisdom. This idea comes to him from Hancock, who got it from Donnelly, who borrowed it, ultimately, from the medieval Arab-Egyptian pyramid legends first reported by Abu Ma’shar c. 850 CE and, in Wolter’s form, in the Akhbar al-zaman around 1000 CE. These myths, as regular readers will remember, involved the pre-Flood people building the pyramids to protect knowledge from the Flood. The pre-Flood people are of course the Nephilim, who, by a long tradition dating back to Cosmas Indicopleustes in the sixth century, were identified with Atlantis based on the indisputable similarity between the final lines of Plato’s Critias on Zeus’s decision to punish Atlantis and the Biblical narrative of God’s decision to punish the antediluvians with the Flood. This, of course, is the reason Donnelly called Atlantis the “antediluvian world.” There is nothing new in fringe history.

The thing about stuff that's billed as non-fiction is you can't really copyright it. Like, if I wrote a book about how Bob Ross loved pudding, and then a new Bob Ross movie was released called "Pictures and Pudding", I can't sue them for royalties because it's a real thing that happened. I didn't invent that information, I was just the first person to write about it.

It almost goes without saying that he claims the Templars were ideological and biological descendants of Atlantians.

He's been hanging out with Hayley for a a few years, but the blurb for his new book says he's still married to Janet. He can't even keep stories about his personal life straight.

Who didn't see that one getting in a cab downtown? as The Great One (not that one, dial it forward a bit) used to say.

Wow. Sounds like our Scott is ready for a 3 day weekend at Chateau 5150 and a quick review of how the "They're on TV and you're not" math adds up.

Perhaps you ought to tell that to the judge who decided on the "Holy Blood And The Holy Grail" case, who used that exact justification to dismiss the case.

Hmm. Seems like a smart fella could make a hella money selling bootleg copies of Obama's autobiographies or Jesse Waters's latest screed. Save money on royalties. Roll up! Roll up!

If you are going to bootleg president Obama books then be sure to carry a lot of homeowners' insurance in case you get caught.

Maybe a combination of his star has fallen as well as the fact that divorce lawyers and alimony aren't cheap is generating the desire to con his way into a bigger paycheck?

Look!!!!! Jason has debunked so many of S.Wolter’s theories it’s incredible he still tries. Scott Wolter is nothing less than a modern day charlatan. He’s NEVER proven to be right on anything, I mean 100% factual proof. Wonder why his short lived show was cancelled. he is definitely a conspiracy theorist. The problem with them is they’re never proven to be right. They’ve always got another theory and another theory and another theory.

More baloney from Wolter. Maybe Rick Lagina will give him a million bucks, but then the show is over and they would lose money.

I remember reading about Atlantis in Martin Gardner's _Fads and Fallacies in the Name of Science_ in the mid-1960s, when I was in high school. I also read about Oak Island in another book about the same time. You are right: "There is nothing new in fringe history."

Irrelevance, thy nam is Scott Wolter. Wolter is past the point of even attempting to discuss anything he says or writes since he is so far removed from reality, there is not even a measure that could measure the distance. Maybe COI could give him a nickel to make him go away. His nonsense has become completely nonsensical.

Pretty bad that Oak Island won't let Wolter on. Just think, they had Treasure Force Commander on a few times, but never Wolter. Has he been banned from the History Channel?

Wolter had no credibility from day 1. He is literally the opposite of who should be recruited to study an alleged medieval artifact.

Short blurb where Wolter lies about some stuff. Says he found the code in the KRS with an unnamed Runologist. (he did this with Richard Nielson who wasn't a Runologist) ,,,, more lies etc, nothing new.
