I know that most readers have become somewhat unenthusiastic about my recent posts about the origin of the Watchers myth. But then stories like this come around to remind us why understanding this ancient myth is so important for evaluating the extraordinary claims of fringe believers. For the following story, I had the good fortune to discover a cache of emails that provide a shocking and frightening glimpse behind the scenes as a group of fringe history believers plan their media strategies and reinforce one another’s extraordinary beliefs. Before we can examine these, however, we need to see how the story appeared to radio audiences.
Karen Hudes, a former senior council to the World Bank (1986-2007), appeared on Red Ice Radio earlier this month to talk about her belief, which she has been promoting for the last year or two, that an ancient race of long-skulled beings, whom she sees as a second species of hominid, are a mathematically-inclined super-race who are sucking the life force from the world’s financial system. These long-skulled creatures are, of course, identical with the Anunnaki, Nephilim, and/or Sons of God from fringe history. Ancient astronaut theorists like Brien Foerster and David Childress, as well as Nephilim researchers like L. A. Marzulli, have singled out elongated skulls as a hallmark of these creatures, and as we shall see, it is Foerster’s work that informs Hudes’s claims.
Here’s what Hudes said, tying her claims to anti-Catholic conspiracies reminiscent of the long-ago fraud The Two Babylons. She begins by talking about the Jesuits and how they control world finance and government. She then says that there are forces who stand behind the Jesuits. Hudes says she’s “heard” from other people, including a neurologist and someone she can’t remember who died at the age of 34, that Akhenaten and his daughters wore their “huge headdresses” to hide their elongated skulls.
They are hominids. They’re not human beings. They are very, very smart. They are not creative; they are mathematical. And they had a much stronger force in the earlier Ice Age. And one of the things that this scientist—his name is Edward Spencer—is talking about, there are a lot of museums that have skulls of these…some people call them “cone heads” by slang. Some people say it’s more than one species. It’s pretty clear that that group is not able to… they may produce offspring in mating with female humans, but that offspring is not fertile, or we would see more of these hominids. And they have been, you know, making themselves scarce.
Hudes says that unnamed people have told her that blue-eyed, big-skulled bankers have attended meetings in Portugal and Egypt. Hudes says that her contacts fear that the big-skulled people have been reading their emails to Hudes (she, too, fears her emails are being read, according to her emails, ironically) and have made themselves visible to remind them to keep the secret of the hidden tribe that controls the money supply. Although she did not say this, I have the emails in which Hudes learned of the claim, and in it a Portuguese man named Augusto told her that the big-skulled bankers hide in back rooms and are only pretending to be Catholics. We’ll return to this anon.
Hudes says that unnamed insiders have advised her not to expose the “loose coalition” of forces conspiring to manipulate world finance because it will cause the public to discount her testimony on corruption within the World Bank.
Well, enough of her: Clearly she came across her ideas secondhand and has bought into a wide-ranging conspiracy theory. Her ideas, as she said, come from Dr. Edward Spencer, a neurologist who entered the fringe history field when he started to question the authorship of the works of Shakespeare in the 1990s. He claims that after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, he felt compelled to devote his life full time to finding the hidden powers that control world history. Spencer is an all-purpose conspiracy theorist. He’s worried about, in no particular order, “HAARP, persistent toxic contrails, saturation of the environment with microwaves, ionizing radiation, toxic GMO foods, food poisons such as Bisphenol-A Fluoride, and pesticides, economic destruction and Imposed Ignorance and Confusion.”
How many tinfoil hat conspiracies can we check off from his list?
He picked up a copy of Charles Hapgood’s Maps of the Ancient Sea-Kings and immediately realized that the remnants of a lost Ice Age civilization were manipulating the modern world. By his own publicity account, in 2012, Spencer “discovered” the concept of elongated skulls and Nephilim and/or ancient astronaut research and decided that these were a separate species that once ruled the Ice Age world and were now the secret force behind the managed decline of Western Civilization.
Note carefully that Spencer “discovered” this only in 2012, which is five years after Hudes left the World Bank. Hudes’s claims about global finance therefore come not from firsthand experience but from an acceptance of secondhand conspiracy at least five years after she left her job, found her earlier claims of World Bank corruption failed to turn a profit, and started her tour of the fringe circuit to play off fears of global elites, distrust of finance, and conspiracy theories. Here’s where it gets interesting, but not in a good way. Spencer and Hudes are email buddies and have been sharing information. Hudes posted her email correspondence with Spencer and others to Amazon’s Amazon Web Service cloud sharing service, apparently unaware that she had made the document publicly accessible and that it is indexed on Google. It is a fascinating—and frightening—look behind the scenes as a fringe history claims is assembled and discussed.
In those emails, Hudes can be seen desperately trying to interest “US television stations” in her years-old claims about corruption in international banking and the “blackmail” of foreign ambassadors in the U.S., which the U.S. media ignored, to her dismay. (She had appeared on the U.S. version of the Russian propaganda channel RT in 2013.) Spencer, on his end, provided her with a set of talking points on March 2 of this year, and informed her that he believed (and this makes me very sad) that “someone” was communicating with him about the secret history of the world through controlling his 9-year-old nephew’s thoughts. I am genuinely sad for that nephew, and I hope that Spencer isn’t projecting lunatic ideas onto the child. For her part, Hudes denied that the “cone-heads” were aliens and wanted Spencer to know that in her radio appearances she would be following his views.
Spencer provided her with the following “evidence” for his claims about prehistory, with a convenient list of sources showing us the “depth” of his research. All of this appears, unchanged, in Hudes’s Red Ice Radio appearance.
So, in mining the Spencer-Hudes emails along with those of their circle, I return now to Augusto, the Portuguese correspondent who reported meeting with these finance-controlling other species while trying to sort out a loan. And who might these prehistoric monster really be? I’ll let Augusto tell you in his own words from an email he sent to Ed Spencer on March 3:
i know some of them and they think that they are superiors, oftenly jews, they laugh about Jesus Christ, they think in numbers not in words, and they are very social pressioned [pressured] - i think by theyr tribe - not to work but to control eficiently.
Yup, Jews control world finance! It’s the old anti-Semitic conspiracy dressed up in fringe history’s prehistoric clothes. Scratch the surface of fringe history, and you always cut down to the weird, dumb ideas about racism, anti-Semitism, etc.
Notable in the emails is what is missing: In the collected emails neither Hudes nor Spencer asks for proof of these claims before using them in their own conspiracy theories. This is especially strange since anti-Semites have accused Hudes herself of being a secret Jew working to feed disinformation to hide the real Jewish conspiracy to turn the world over to communism.
Ed Spencer then confirmed the anti-Semitic underpinnings of his own claims in his response to Augusto and others who wrote to him around the same time. On March 2, Spencer wrote an email to another correspondent outlining his acceptance of Brien Foerster’s recent claim that a creationist who tested fragments of a smuggled skull from Peru had proved that the elongated skull was non-human. He then explained that this lost race created the Jews to destroy the world: “I think it likely that they created the Jews as a covert destabilizing force. Circumcision apparently has a deleterious effect on the bonding of a man to a woman, and societal effects.” Spencer further explained that the Jewish scriptures were an attempt to hide the truth about human history:
I think they [the big-skull people] dominated the planet and us, and want overt domination back. Everything points to an incredible orchestrated attack on Homo sapiens. The Biblical Flood story seems designed to cover the enormous flooding during the meltdown following the last Glacial Max[imum] causing sea level to rise 400 ft, They have told us (throughout the Bible) that we are so very special, smart, and unique, but we are not. There are many stories about red h[a]ired giant cannibals in North America, told by indigenous people, and there are stories of their remains being taken by the Smithsonian and not seen again. Same for big skulls found in the Aleutian Islands[.]
You will, of course, recognize bits and pieces of Graham Hancock’s claims mixed with cherry-picked claims about “red-haired” giant cannibals (which as we know, did not have red hair but actually enjoyed frequent sodomy and, oh yeah, raping women to death), and acceptance of not one but two of David Childress’s errors—the Smithsonian Conspiracy and the “giants” of the Aleutian Islands, which I discussed here. “They” seems to sometimes be the lost race and other times to be the Jews themselves, actively trying to ruin the lives of Christians. (Apparently Hindus, Buddhists, etc. aren’t worthy of their attention.)
So, the takeaway is pretty scary: An organized group of fringe theorists believe that the Jews were “created” by another species to cause trouble for non-Jews and serve as their agents in helping control world finance and destroy Western Civilization in order to bring about the return of the Great Old Ones from beneath the earth and beyond the stars. Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn! No, wait… That’s a different fiction. They want to destroy Western Civilization so they can rise from their underground civilization and reclaim the surface… No, wait, that’s the Shaver Mystery. They want to destroy Western Civilization so they can…. Oh, it’s all the same thing.
The real story here is how old anti-Semitic myths keep getting recycled in new guises. Zecharia Sitchin used them to inform his extraterrestrial Anunnaki, who drink gentile blood and obsess over gold and global control, and the Spencer-Hudes is a terrestrial version of the same, a Protocols of the Elders of Zion with Nephilim pulling the Jews’ strings.
But do read Hudes’s emails before she realizes they’re publicly available. It’s fascinating reading.
