Triumph of the Shrill
Over on Substack, I reviewed the three-hour conversation between Michael Shermer of Skeptic magazine and controversial Canadian academic Jordan B. Peterson. You can read my thoughts here.

I watched a couple of Peterson's videos to see what all the fuss was about. Yet another "I'm the smartest guy in the room" who generates some buzz by offering an opposing voice to hyper-political correctness, both real and imagined. I got a chuckle out of his use of the Queen of England as an argument against the notion of the patriarchy. That's a rookie error that even many 19 year olds in an introductory anthro class avoid. I can only imagine the horrors of someone like that venturing deeply into analysis of ancient myths or any sort of serious cross-cultural analysis.
