As I continue to have only limited computer time due to the failure of my laptop hard drive, I have to devote the time I have with a borrowed laptop to paying writing projects. Today, however, I would like to present the cover for my new book, The Mound Builder Myth, which will be released in the spring. Yes, it is really happening. I think the cover looks beautiful, and the publisher did a remarkable job creating something evocative, beautiful, and also in line with the conventions of its genre. I cannot wait to see it in print!
The cover images include, at top, a historic photograph of men posing atop the ruins during the destruction of a Native American mound and, at bottom, the infamous Grave Creek Stone, a fraudulent artifact created in the early 1800s to provide proof of Old World contact with the Americas before Columbus.

It looks good. When it becomes available I'll certainly read the preview.

Jason, can you let us know once this is available for pre-order? From what Mike Duncan of the "History of Rome" podcast said, you don't need that many pre-orders to be labeled a best seller these days. It would be nice to get the book and help it get charted.

I too would have liked to buy some of Jason's books. Unhappily when I looked up my usual bookseller website I find they're listed at $65-$73, and I just can't afford that sort of price.

Sounds like your bookseller website orders them from Amazon and adds the rule-of-thumb markup where cost of the book to the dealer is 60% of the cost to the customer. Go thou to Amazon and do thou better.

wish that was so, however I buy via The Book Depository Uk, but they quote me the prices in NZ dollars and that's it. Amazon's prices are even more.

I have held off judgment for several days now. I still get the same feeling as I did with my first impression. Your book cover has a History Channel feel to it. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Depends upon what you were going for. The color scheme reminds me of several pseudoscience books.

One other difference with Kinkos is that some shady vanity publishing companies will send their pigeons a cheap t-shirt with the words “I’M PUBLISHED” on it — so they can show off their sad self-delusion with the rest of the world.

Looks like I have a new impersonator. Evidently bored old men looking for something to argue about. You all have effectively killed this blog. So, have fun sitting in your soiled Depends sipping your spiked Boost and Ensure, or lube up with a full tube of Preparation H, enabling you to slide your heads from your backsides, be careful... Remember the soiled Depends, sign up for AARP, and buy whatever product that makes Willy come alive again. Then choke upon it. As Jim says, "Get Stuffed"!!!
