I always am interested in how the ancient astronaut proponents (among others) start with the “could it be” rationale and then quickly go on to “if it is true . . . then it may also be that” chain until listeners are standing with their heads upside down, and only a few wondering how they got there.

In Vallee’s case, I was recently reading an older paper that used the Philadelphia Experiment hoax as a means of identifying false claims. I agreed with what he wrote about that, but it’s always easier to apply those principles to beliefs other than your own,

Excellent interview (and, your 1884 piece was as well). Perhaps you can illuminate me on one piece of the puzzle that thus far seems unsolved: what about the allegations of verifiable radar contacts showing extreme velocities, directional changes, etc.?

And on another note, some months back I ran across a cable series entitled "The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch," which seemed (in the few episodes I bothered to watch) to be about a treasure hunt for riches buried in caves under the ranch, together with vague hints about supernatural activity. Many months later, I again happened to catch an episode; this time, it seemed to be all about portals, poltergeists, etc., so I just turned it off in disgust. In your interview, I was surprised to hear a reference to Bigelow somehow being connected with Skinwalker ranch in Utah. So this smarmy TV series is evidently, in some sense, a rerun of Bigelow's activities in the 90s? Have you written anything showing the absurdity of the Secret of Skinwalker Ranch series, or do you possibly plan to do so in the future?
